With today’s trend of women being more independent and capable, professional women’s fashion market has seen a massive growth, countless labels and designers are dedicated to provide more ‘work’ clothes for professional women. However, the fundamental design and styling ideas are limited, as well as colour and pattern choices. Therefore, most of the women find that their work outfits are always the same and tedious due to the regulations of the work place, as they will have separate sections for work clothes and everyday clothes.

It is perfectly fine to separate work and life, but for me, I can’t take the fact that I have to change shoes and outfit before and after work, it kind of cut me into two different people, which does not make my work hours happy simply because I am not wearing the outfit I want to wear. So I encourage you to give your work outfit some creative twist, that’s if your work place does not have a strict requirement for outfit.

What I am wearing has great impact on how I perform, so I’d like to style myself with a little bit of creativity based on the main stream culture, which makes me more confident while doing my creative work. Today I’m wearing Tobi’s collection- Straight A Skater Dress  in black and white. This dress has a nice formal shirt collar, which can fit in work environment, and its double layer design follows the hottest trend in 2017. It is fine to just wear it as a day dress in the summer, but I also wear it during the winter in Australia, simply style it with a pair of black jeans, I know my distressed beaded jeans might be too much for some work place, but personally, I love it. Just to add some highlight to my look, I styled with a rivet belt, green patterned round bag and a pair of lace up heels. I love taking a simple pice of outfit and style up to the limit, so I don’t need to worry about if someone else is wearing the same outfit.

I know shopping for professional outfits can cost fortunes, and they are probably not our favourite outfit, people think they don’t have choice, oh yes we do have choices, that’s where styling is very important and know where to shop is more important. If you have limited budget but want to be very creative and stylish, visit international online retailers like Tobi.com, they always have nice clothes on sale, and offer free international shipping service. If you are crazy about styling instead of wearing a set of outfit, then it is better switch your regular shopping spots to those retailers who have more variety of fashion collections.

Walking at the CBD, I believe my style fit in and stand out at the same time, I can go for a coffee and a dinner without changing clothes and still be comfortable at different environments. This is the good thing about Australia, flexibility, I can set my own rules on how I dress to work. Just because you are professional women, doesn’t mean you have to wear clothes you don’t like and be dreary all the time, I’m sure you can be stunning and creative by proper styling and fit in to your work environment at the same time.

It is really hard to tell what is my favourite colour from my blogs and photos, I am crazy about monochrome, but I can’t stop trying as many colour as I can, such as this winter look I styled today, with a very brave combination of colours, to make this winter warm, yes, it’s Brisbane, Australia.

Knitwear sometime makes me look chubby and clumsy, its better if it comes with nice details and colour,  my current favourite is this knitwear by POLO, it makes look young and full of energy. This wide leg distressed jeans is my new favourite piece that goes well with any top in any look, I just can’t get enough of it. Those flats are so comfortable, I can wear them and walk all day. Then I pulled out my Chanel bag to match with my shoes’ colour and upgrade my entire look.

Nothing better than going downstairs and able to find a nice place for a good cup of coffee in a winter morning, and then go for shopping and movies, try a light colour combination look, forget about any formulation of colour match, any rules were set by someone else, only you can set your own rules, be more creative and brave, because good designers are brave enough to speak their mind by creating unique styles, nothing is impossible, and in fashion, nothing is completely wrong.

Shanghai- a magic city. Last time I really dip myself into Shanghai was back in 2008, it hasn’t had too much changes in the past 9 years. This time, I got to walk through the same streets I walked on before, see the same views I have seen before, take some street style photos that I have never done, which truly gave my memory of this city a revision.

It is a city full of opportunities and possibilities, it is a city full of hope and desperation. I posted some snaps of myself walking at Lujiazui –  the east side of the Huangpu River where the CBD area is.

The amount of office buildings, skyscrapers, business crowd reminded me that I used to be one of those fast walking people transport to work everyday at a tiny office in the huge concrete jungle. And now I am lucky enough to be an outsider to watch the traffic of this humongous city.

White top and denim bottom are always BFFs, I love to bring them together all the time for a flawless casual look.

I am currently obsessed with this white top, the giant sleeve design covered my chubby arms perfectly, and the details on the wrist are my favourite too.

I was a bit tired with jeans and denim shorts, from the day I got this denim skirt, I didn’t want to take it off. It is so easy to style with many types of tops, t-shirt, blouses and knitwear.

I would definitely put on a pair of heels if I wasn’t planning on walking whole day, but hey, little white sneakers are never bad choices.

An interesting fact, doing street style photo shoot is definitely not easy in China, despite the weather could get really windy and the heavy traffic on the road, people would never stop looking at me and staring at me until they are too far away to look back. Some would just stop walking and staring at us for a bit. Turns out, I didn’t really like most of my photos, however, I have to post my precious moments and unique experience. It was definitely a great opportunity to practice and improve my photos.

I hope you like what I am sharing, and if you do, please subscribe to my blog and follow my Instagram.

Never planned to be a vlogger, however, I was inspired to record my short trip to Melbourne last month, I thought I may put together a super short video just for fun. Melbourne was beautiful, it wasn’t easy to squeeze so many great moments into a one-minute video, there were so many beautiful places and so much yummy food in Melbourne I have experienced, which I couldn’t include in this video. It’s my first try, never done this before, I hope you enjoy it, and simply let me know weather you like it.

If you can’t see the video below, you may refresh this page, or use this link https://youtu.be/BkuGXfqhuKE

It was a wonderful short trip to Melbourne last week, I felt fresh and recharged. Sometimes it’s good to get away from current environment and step out of my comfort zone. I love the colour of Melbourne.

Shooting OOTD in Melbourne was an amazing experience, the city is busier than Brisbane. A lot more people walked pass while I was doing my photo shoot, which made it more challenging. I found that I became more confident than before, and I can do better next time for sure.

Melbourne is a colourful city, I love the street art and culture here. Just because of that, I didn’t want to blend in with colourful outfits. All my outfits are picked in black and white colour, I believe the colourful world will be more beautiful if it’s seen from a colourless world. I am in love with this one shoulder top, uneven design always attracts me. Besides, the animal printed bag is my all time favourite accessory, the watch and bangle are my new favourite babies.

Top/Skirt/Bag/Choker – Zara

Watch – Marc Bale

Bangle – The Peach Box

Sunglasses – Sports Girl

Sneaker – Witchery

Boots – odbo

My eternal favourite color is white, especially for nails. Recently a friend of mine got my nails done, they are all white color, which makes me so happy and inspired to do a white outfit shoot.

I know this jumpsuit would go good with a pair of heels, but somehow, I wanted to challenge myself so I did it with bare feet. It was absolutely fun shooting this look.

Australia has fully entered summer I believe, because the heat during the day is unbearable. I don’t think there is any clothes needed in this weather, and even being naked will not stop us sweating walking on the street. Even though I love hot coffee so much, lately I had to change my order to ice latte in order to cool down. And it is very difficult to shoot outside with any outfit that is more than one layer.

So I am planning to do some fashion editorials soon, in case I am not able to do outdoor photos, meanwhile enrich the content of my blog, any ideas?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend

As much as I love those strong and clear lines of leather jacket and white shirt, after a while, I will miss my feminine look. Today I am a boho girl, it was very encouraging when I see a big smile on my husband’s face as soon as he saw me in this dress. It is undeniable that a soft purple-pink off-shoulder dress gets more likes from the opposite gender. This makes me think that maybe the gender blurry trend of fashion is merely adored by women who look at women as men, thus women that obsessed with boyfriend style because they are attracted by male naturally. In the contrary, when women see another women in a more feminine look, they were less impressed.

Wasn’t a big fun of dresses when I was in high school, now I have decide to buy more dresses than shorts. I love this one piece look, it is really comfortable and easy to wear. However, those sandals are not that easy to put on, but it’s worth the time. I think they are just so cute as a lot of people are wearing similar ones, I could not help to get myself a pair. Normally, I am not a typical boho person, but dressing towards boho style makes me feel young and girly. There is unlimited way to be boho chic and the culture is just so powerful and inspiring in terms of color, pattern, and shape.

Enjoy

How is your Monday like, I had to go to uni, and I only have one month left to finish my second master degree, I can’t wait to share more my styles for uni days.

My favourite color is orange, it makes me shine and makes me happy, it is such a positive and healthy color that you can’t hate.

I have worn some pieces of my orange collections in the past, today I styled three orange items together with my current favourite denim. A cute little crop top, a clutch and a pair of candy flat from my orange family have actually made my busy uni day more energetic, I almost forgot how tired I was, as recently I have been working so hard on my reports and articles.

I am also working on the next update of my mobile App, I would really like to get some ideas from you, about what do you expect to see and use a blogger’s mobile App, my current version can be downloaded from the link on the home page (left hand side), it is free to download, and please let me know your thought by commenting this blog, much appreciated.

Be back soon.

Ciao

The world’s fashion is taking over by OOTD – Outfit Of The Day. It is true that people needs to look decent while going out everyday, thus to majority of population, those fashion items that can satisfy daily look are more important than haute couture.

To me, the essence of OOTD is wearing something that I am comfortable with and also tells who I am,  as I have multiple roles in life, so it is interesting to switch one look to another.

Camo print is one of my favourites back in the days while I was in high school, and I used to dance a lot. This look reminded me who I was while I was in high school, I was an out-going girl, who loves to dance after class, and listens to a lot of hip-hop music.

Stripe crop top and leather shorts are my must have items too, they are as easy-going as me, simply match well with any other items, and create endless ootd looks.

Good news! I have just released my own emoji, available to use in iOS 10 system. Download here http://smarturl.it/misszhou  or search in iMessage app store with key word ‘Miss Zhou’. Let me know if you like it and how I can improve it.

It seems like the latest trend in celebrities is to show their imperfections to the public, some of them have skin issues, health issues and relationship issues. I am surprised about how people are able to accept and tolerate those imperfections of the public figures. As a fashion blogger, I’m not even close to perfect, even though I dedicate to create interesting content and show a great lifestyle I am living. I’m still the person who can be clumsy and spill wine on myself and the organiser  at an exclusive fashion event; I am still the person who can go out and go to bed without shower; and I always forget to clean my coffee machine. But then I realised those things will not stop people from liking me and being inspired by me. So I learnt the essence of accept and support.

Those who are from China like me know that we embrace international culture and products a lot. While they are mostly being produced in China, but people are paying for the label, the brand, the culture. It is not a bad thing. However, after I moved to Australia, I was amazed by how much Australian people support their local businesses. People love to buy local products, support local boutiques, artiest, musicians and labels. Where I am from people hardly notice what the local people are doing, they think internationally famous brands are the best, so it is not easy to grow their business for young entrepreneurs who have relatively small investment business.

Now, I think, being aware of what people around you are doing and support them is really important. If a business can’t survive locally, it will be hard to survive in international market, especially industries like fashion, beauty, art and entertainment. And more importantly, everyone needs support from others. As a fashion blogger, I really do need support by businesses and people like me. So I would never stop showing my support to the business, designers and artists in my city and surrounded area.

Since I started blogging couple months ago, I am lucky enough to be a guest blogger for a local fashion organisation (Fashion Hub Queensland) and meet so many incredible people in my city. They have shown me the passion of live up the dreams and the grace of supporting each other. Being success in this industry, I believe, love, support, accept, inspire, connect and honest are the most important things.

Thanks for reading me sharing my mind, don’t be a stranger, leave your comments below, connect with me through social media, or simply download my mobile App using the link on the home page, there are so many ways we can connect these days, let me be your audience too.

About this look

Both of my top and skirt are Australian brands, styled by myself.

Top from Sports Girl

Skirt from Aje

Playsuit is a great design that makes styling easier than before, in a hot summer, it saves you a lot of time wondering what to wear and what to match.  Simply put on a cute piece, and 90% of the styling is done. But, just because it is only one piece, it gives the entire look of the day. I am always very picky about finding the right piece for me.

Although there are so many different designs of playsuit out there, I only have a few pieces of playsuit that I adore a lot. This red playsuit is my favourite, it looks like a two-piece suits, however they are connected and very difficult to put on. I love the colour, it’s been a while since I dress in red colour. Red makes me feel alive especially when I indulged myself in the nature, waterfall, bamboo, trees, flowers…

Red goes so well with any black accessories. I simply matched it with my black sandals, black chocker, black ring and black sunglasses. Last but not least, I do count my black hair as an accessory too, lol. Enjoy the week.

Despite the winter in Brisbane is short, there is no reason not to have a pair of over the knee boots. They are extremely helpful with the imperfection of our legs by making them look longer, slimmer and straight. My legs are not very straight and a bit chubby, but they look better in my over the knee boots.

My most recommended look with over the knee boots is matching with mini skirt or t-shirt dress which stops at upper thigh. The point is to show a little skin of the thigh between the boots and the skirt/dress. I can never get enough of this chic look.

The top I am wearing is white fluffy ZARA, for the winter, but I can totally match with a hundred different spring and summer tops to get different looks, nice and easy.

Looking forward to see your look of over the knee.

Joy
